Rospigans Hund - The drummer

Here again the dog is held on lead and the handler stands still. In the upper left picture you can see the testleader jumping out of a hide, dressed in dark clothing and a hat covering the face. Sunglasses are often used also. Here we want to the dog to react for the body signals only.

The testleader (or an classified assistant) invites the dog to be tested to play. This is done by changing the size, standing up and squatting alternatingly. Making fast leaps forward and then down to the heels, making yourself small and turning your face away from the dog.

What man sees here is an ugly scarecrow, but this is not what the dog sees. It sees a silhuet that is moving irregulary, constantly changing in size and alternatingly looking at it and turning its head away. To a dog this is not a scarecrow but another dog inviting it to play. We want the dog to be tested to answer this invitation and have fun for a while, show its social competition drive and be brave enough to finally investigate the rather unusual playmate.
