Rospigans Hund - The paper figures

The dog is held with the collar while the handler runs into a wooded area, calling the doga few times, through a number of paper silhuets of man. The silhuets are placed in an area of about 20 x 25 meters and are growing from half-silhuets to full-size silhuets along the path. The handler runs past all the silhuets and hide in the forest on the back side of the area. The dog is freed and will see the first silhuets after it has run about 10 - 15 meters. A brave and calm dog only slightly hesitates here, instantly finding out that the silhuets are only dead ducks that cant do any harm and continues through the area and finds its handler. The handler then takes the dog back on a leash and the situation is repeated.

This time, when the dog reachess the area of the figures, another fullsize silhuet is pulled up from the ground very close to the dogs path.A good dog has earlyer found out about the stationary silhuets and this "live" one usually makes the dog to only slightly deviate from its path towards the handler. Now the handler puts the dog on leash and it is on the way back allowed to investigate every silhuet it wants to investigate.

The dog is then walked back an forth among the silhuets until it is made sure that it has lost all interest in them, thereby making sure that no stress or fear from the situation remains in the dog. Some dogs never make it through but the handler has to come back. Some dogs find a way to the handler by circeling the entire area, thereby avoiding the threatfull silhuets. Some dogs can make the first run but cant handle the silhuet that jumps up from the ground on the second run. This is a very revealing situation and it takes a lot of experience to correctly evaluate it. This dog never made it through, the handler had to come back and support the dog so that it could be made to relax among the silhuets. Here it is allowed to thoroughly investigate every silhuet.
